Meet the Artist

I come from a family of explorers, storytellers, and makers—people who believed in wandering the land, noticing details, and leaving marks that lasted. That spirit lives on in me, expressed through art, guiding, and teaching, though now in quieter, more intentional ways.

My work begins in motion—backpacking through the backcountry, mountain biking remote trails, and traveling from the rugged landscapes of northern Montana to the desert stretches of southern Nevada. I create as much as possible on-site, sketching in my sketchbook, working with gouache in small studies, or capturing reference through photography with my Canon. Time spent directly in the landscape—observing, traveling, and painting—creates a unity across my body of work.

As an artist and wilderness guide, I blend adventure with reflection. My murals, paintings, and prints are rooted in the wild beauty of the Bighorn Mountains and the landscapes of the American West: birdsong, wildflowers, rivers, and histories both geological and human. From quick pen and ink field drawings to more developed acrylic and oil paintings for galleries, each piece carries the thread of adventure and presence. I love the solitude and quiet moments found in wild places, and my art is an invitation for the viewer to step into that story—sometimes filled with color and movement, sometimes pared down to the stillness of a single moment in time.

With my background in education, I use art as a way to teach and inspire—whether leading others into the field, sharing creative practices, or sparking curiosity in the classroom. My goal is to show how wilderness and creativity are deeply connected ways of seeing and understanding the world.

Beyond the studio, I am also a mother, passing along the same love of nature, grit, and adventure to my daughter. Together, we learn that exploration doesn’t always mean miles traveled. It can be sitting still, watching a sapsucker at work, noticing how snow reshapes the mountains, the shifting flow of rivers, the spots on a golden trout, or the grasshopper’s long legs in the meadow.

My work is for those who feel at home in both wonder and quiet: art collectors, conservationists, dreamers, and anyone who wants to bring the wilderness into their daily life.
